UPSC Civil Services IAS Prelims 2021 Notification has been released @upsc.gov.in. Today, Union Public Service Commission has released the detailed notification for recruitment to the posts through the Civil Services Exam 2021. All such candidates who are preparing for civil services and willing to appear this year can register themselves through the online mode from today onwards.i.e. 4 March 2021 at upsc.gov.in. The online applications for the same will be submitted by 24 March 2021. Earlier, the notification was to release on 10 February 2021 as per the annual calendar.
According to the official notification, a total of 712 vacancies will be recruited through this recruitment process which includes 22 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category, i.e. 5 vacancies for candidates of (a) blindness and low vision; 6 Vacancies for (b) deaf and hard of hearing; 6 Vacancies for (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; and 5 Vacancies for (e) multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (c) including deaf-blindness.

On 8 February, The supreme court asked the centre to consider granting one-time relaxation on the age limit to UPSC Civil Services Aspirants including the candidates who had exhausted their last attempt in the 2020 exam due to covid 19. The matter is to be heard today again in the court.
In the February 5 hearing, the central government agreed to give one more chance only to those candidates who appeared in their last attempt in the 2020 exam and are not age barred. The centre was not in favour of giving relief to the candidates who have crossed their age limit for the year 2021 examination. However, the Center had also clarified that it is ready to give the candidates the last chance, but will not waive the age limit.
UPSC Civil Services IAS Prelims 2021 Online Applications will end on 2 March 2021. The commission has decided to conduct UPSC IAS Prelims 2021 on 27 June 2021 across the country. The admit cards for the same will be uploaded in due course. The Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to the examination.

Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.

UPSC IAS (Civil Services) Prelims 2021 Selection Criteria
The civil services exam comprises two successive stages. i.e. Prelims and Mains and Interview for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.
UPSC IAS Civil Services 2021 Exam Pattern
The Preliminary Examination will consist of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks in the subjects set out in subsection (A) of Section II. This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only; the marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit.
The final list of the candidates will be made on the basis of qualified marks in Mains and Interview. Candidates will be allotted to the various Services keeping in view their ranks in the examination and the preferences expressed by them for the various Services and posts.
How to apply for UPSC IAS (Civil Services) Prelims 2021
Interested candidates will be able to apply for UPSC IAS (Civil Services) Prelims 2021 through the online mode at upsc.gov.in from 4 March 2021 to 24 March. The online Applications can be withdrawn from 31st March 2021 to 6th April 2021 till 6.00 PM after which the link will be disabled. No request for withdrawal of candidature will, however, be entertained after the expiry of the specified period by the Commission under any circumstances.
