CUET stands for Common University Entrance Test, while CUCET stands for Central University Common Entrance Test. CUET is a new form of CUCET.
CUET Exam Pattern 2022
CUCET or CUET will be MCS based Computer Based Test (CBT) based on NCERT textbooks. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. It will have three sections – Section A (language test), Section B (domain specific test) and Section C which is optional. There is a common test for vocational, open eligibility, cross stream examination.
- Section A (language test): Candidates have to compulsorily appear for a language test in one of the 13 languages – Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English Will have to be
- Section B (domain specific test): Candidates need to choose maximum six domains out of the proposed 27 which they want to study at UG level. These include major subjects like Mathematics, History, Accountancy, Economics, Computer Science, etc. and relatively minor subjects like Performing Arts, Agriculture, Fine Arts, Teaching Ability etc. Candidates can also appear for subjects they have not studied in school. The domain-specific test will check the candidate's aptitude for the subjects.
- Section C (vocational/open eligibility/cross stream test): This optional section has two subsections. Sub-section 1 will have a general aptitude test while sub-section 2 will be a language test where students can choose from 19 unusual languages that are not included in section A such as Chinese, French, Japanese, Santhili, Sindhi, etc. .
Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will be conducted for admission to 45 central universities in India. So the class 12 students will be eligible to appear for the entrance exam.

Some of the major central universities that come under CUCET or CUET are Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Sikkim University, Mizoram University, Himachal State University, Central University of Kerala, etc.
